Jewel Spritz Cookies
These cookies are great anytime, but the beautiful colors make
them a special holiday treat!

Yield: 10 dozen cookies

• 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 teaspoon baking powder
• 1 1/2 cups butter or margarine
• 1 cup sugar

 • 1 egg
• 1 3-ounce package flavored gelatin
• 1 teaspoon vanilla

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

Mix together flour and baking powder. Set aside. Cream butter and sugar. Add flavored gelatin. (I use strawberry and lime at Christmas, orange at Thanksgiving and Halloween.) Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually add flour mixture. Mix well.

Put some of the dough in a cookie press. Force dough through the cookie press onto an ungreased baking pan. Bake at 400 degrees F. for 8 minutes. Decorate with sugar.
